Vermont Symphony Orchestra Daniel Bernard Roumain Riots and Prayers
We’re thrilled to be back for another season of live recording with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra at the Flynn Theatre. The VSO’s opening concert for the 2022/2023 season includes the world premiere of Riots and Prayers, composed by Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) and co-commissioned with The Flynn and UVM Lane Series. Riots and Prayers provides an opportunity for you – for anyone – to have their say as part of the performance.
DBR says that Riots and Prayers is for “ … anyone who has a deep need to say or express themselves – with their orchestra – within a moment of music, trust and collective expression … This work is intended to be reflective of our highly divisive, combative, and collaborative times. There is nothing that can be said or expressed that I would find inappropriate, unwanted, or alarming. I trust any audience to seize this opportunity for collaboration with their orchestra and make it their own, unique, shared experience for us all to witness.”
Riots and Prayers allows for words, witness, and wonder.
